COUNCIL WASTE FACILITIES

MidWaste member councils provide services to their community to ensure resources are recovered as a priority. Items that cannot be recovered or recycled are buried in landfills.

Waste Management Centres generally include resource recovery facilities such as Community Recycling Centres (CRCs), material stockpiles like scrap metal and greenwaste (these are regularly processed and recycled), and landfills.

Transfer stations are smaller facilities where the community can drop off a range of items. These are transferred to the larger facility for recycling or disposal.

Here's the list of MidWaste member councils. Click on your local government area for details and locations of council waste facilities near you.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

The Waste Hierarchy sets up a framework for reducing our waste. For items you really do need to dispose of, you can help us reduce what goes to landfill by using the services you can find in these pages (or on your council website) available to ensure we can recycle or appropriately dispose of all materials.
