Bike Revival Co is a community lead initiative that aims to divert unwanted bicycles destined for landfill sites back into society having been repaired by local volunteers.
Where possible, the spare parts used to fix the bicycles will be taken from others that have been deemed beyond repair.
Operating from YP Spaces Ngurra site at 63 Belgrave Street, Kempsey Bike Revival Co is an opportunity for anyone in the community to volunteer their time to support this initiative.
Divert bicycles from landfill sites across the MidWaste Region.
Salvage spare parts and repair bicycles that will allow the community access to bicycles in good working condition.
Develop a network of community members with knowledge in bicycle maintenance.
Build community capacity, skills and knowledge in relation to the principles of the circular economy and reuse and repair.
Bike Revival Co is managed by MidWaste in partnership with YP Space.
YP Space is a local youth homelessness service that provides support and accommodation to young people across the Mid North Coast. The Bike Revival Co initiative will operate from their Ngurra site in Kempsey.
Anyone from across the community can volunteer.
All volunteers will be provided with training on how to safely repair bikes. Any volunteers that are working with young people will be required to provide a Working with Children Check which are free and obtained through Service NSW.
